National Telecommunications Commission called the leading telecommunications company in the Phillipines for a public hearing to discuss the possible reducing of text messaging and voice calls prices.
The NTC signed a twin circulars to slash the access charge for text messaging between different operators to 15 centavos from 35 centavos. The commission believes that this would drive down the price of text messaging from the nominal rate of 1 peso to about 60 or 65 centavos.
